Position: Commercial Real Estate Appraiser - Indianapolis

The Indianapolis office of Pillar Valuation Group is seeking a real estate valuation professional to expand our growing regional valuation firm.

Pillar Valuation Group, Inc. is known and respected for our breadth of experience in commercial real estate appraisal services and commitment to providing unbiased, third-party valuations and consulting. Pillar Valuation Group is based in Cincinnati and expanded into Indianapolis in 2015. Our company has an established client base that include financial institutions, property owners, attorneys, and more. Pillar Valuation Group offers consistent support, diverse and changing assignments, and an environment where candidates can advance and excel in the appraisal field.

This position requires the completion of commercial appraisal assignments with data, resource, and review support. The candidate will perform full property valuations via market research; investigation of comparables; fieldwork; and interviews with market participants. Appraised properties run the gamut in commercial real estate, from small to large, from simple to complex, and can include property types such as apartments, shopping centers, industrial warehouses, hotels/motels, subdivision land, office buildings, and others.

The ideal candidate desires independence and flexibility paired with the resources of a larger firm. The candidate must:

  • Be professional, self-motivated, and productive
  • Show attention to detail
  • Demonstrate strong writing and analytical skills
  • Have a commitment to quality and meeting deadlines
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree
  • Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

MAIs welcome and encouraged to apply. Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license or Real Estate Appraiser Trainee license (in good standing, of course) with 1-2+ years of experience preferred. Professionals from other fields with multiple years of real estate, valuation, or finance experience will also be considered. Aspiring trainees with no experience will not be considered.

Experienced MAI in the office willing to be a peer, a teacher, or give you autonomy. There are no meetings, no dress code, and no boss hanging over your shoulder. The environment is cooperative, with a culture of friendliness, respect, and integrity. There is plenty of interesting work to go around from a diverse client base, but there is also opportunity for a candidate to build a book of business and develop client relationships, if desired. The office is currently small and offers opportunities to grow the business and the office for those that are so inclined. If you have considered going out on your own (or are tired of being on your own and dealing with all the minutiae and cost of overhead), if you are stuck managing and want to get back to writing appraisals, or if you are just plain sick of "taking one for the team" for 80 hours a week at a larger firm, this may be the perfect fit for you.

Benefits include salary plus bonus, 401k, healthcare, paid licensing and continuing education, and a flexible work environment. Typical travel required. Compensation is commensurate with level of experience and productivity.

Please, no phone calls. Email resumes to indy@pillarvg.com. All inquiries will remain strictly confidential.
